Ingredients:
For the Dough:
3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast
1 ½ teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 ¼ cups warm water
For the Sauce:
1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
For the Toppings:
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup sliced pepperoni
1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
½ red onion, thinly sliced
Fresh basil leaves (optional)
Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, mix the flour, instant yeast, and salt. Add olive oil and warm water, stirring until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rest for 10 minutes.
Make the Sauce: In a small saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute. Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes, then set aside.
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.
Assemble the Pizza: Divide the dough in half and roll each half into a 12-inch circle on a piece of parchment paper. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over each pizza base, leaving a small border for the crust. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top, followed by pepperoni, bell pepper, and onion slices.
Bake the Pizza: Carefully transfer the parchment paper with the pizza onto the hot pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and top with fresh basil and grated Parmesan if desired. Slice and serve immediately.
Enjoy your homemade pizza! Experiment with different toppings and discover new flavor combinations. Happy cooking!
